You think you’re just watching a YouTube video, but surprise—you’re being teleported into the closing session of the Connector Summit, a virtual event packed with powerful moments of connection. This session wasn’t about teaching a clever closing exercise—it was about living it, feeling it, and celebrating the collective wisdom of everyone present.
In this blog, I’ll take you on a journey through the magic of that session, how we used AI to bring people’s insights to life, and why human intelligence will always be the secret sauce in creating meaningful connection.
A Virtual Summit for Connection Enthusiasts
Over the course of two days, attendees of the Connector Summit gathered in Zoom and Remo, a free-roaming virtual platform, to connect, reflect, and grow. To capture the essence of this experience, we created an “Aha Wall,” a space for asynchronous conversation where participants could share their insights, moments of inspiration, and breakthroughs.
Imagine trying to condense nine hours of connection, insight, and learning into just a couple of minutes. Enter AI!
How We Turned Insights Into an Epic Poem
To close out the summit, I gathered every single comment from the Aha Wall and ran it through ChatGPT with this prompt:
“Can you turn all the comments in this thread into an epic poem of everyone’s aha’s so far at the summit, ideally in a fairly conversational voice?”
The result? A beautiful, collaborative poem titled “AHA, A Tribute to Connection.” As I read it aloud, participants used Zoom reactions—hearts, claps, and smiles—to express how the words resonated with them.
Here’s an excerpt from the poem that captured the collective energy of the summit:
“Aha,” A Tribute to Connection
Pinned atop the summit thread, an aha wall where wisdom is spread.
Goldmine of goodness, voices aligned, a collective treasure of heart and mind.
…
A choir of connectors in voice, in song,
Building a future where we all belong.
These words weren’t just from me—they were ours. AI acted as a tool to organize, refine, and amplify the wisdom of the group, but the heart of the poem came directly from the participants.
Key Insights From the Connector Summit
As I read through the Aha Wall, I was struck by the depth of insight shared by participants. Here are a few standout moments that made their way into the poem:
- Christopher’s Reminder: “Overthinking steals the learning’s root. Empathy first, design less tight. Let connection be the guiding light.”
- Heather’s Advice: “Don’t rush to reply. Quick answers make good questions die.”
- Rebecca’s Prompt: “What draws you in? A question to spark where stories begin.”
- Leanne’s Planning Tip: “Silence’s might. In productive pause, ideas fly like a kite.”
These nuggets of wisdom highlight a central theme of the summit: connection before content.
Using AI in Facilitation: Co-Authoring With Your Group
One of the big questions going into the summit was, “How can we integrate AI into facilitation?” While I’m no AI expert, here’s what I’ve learned:
When you make your group the co-author and use AI to organize and enhance their contributions, the result can be extraordinary. But if you rely on AI to create something from scratch without input from real humans, the output can feel… meh.
Take the poem, for example. Ninety-seven percent of the credit goes to the participants who contributed their aha moments. The remaining 3%? That’s AI organizing the brilliance that was already there.
The Power of Connection
As we wrapped up the summit, it was clear that the magic of the event wasn’t in the technology or the tools we used—it was in the people. Each participant brought their own unique perspective, and together, we created something far greater than the sum of its parts.
Whether it’s through sharing aha moments, asking powerful questions, or embracing pauses, fostering connection is what truly transforms culture.
