Want to Spark Connection before Content in Just One Minute?
You might be sitting in a meeting, at a conference breakout, or in a team discussion. Whatever the setting, I recorded the video below, so that you could stream the video for any group. Then sit back and let the question work it’s magic in self-organized small group discussions.
The Question
Inspired by Peter Block, here’s the question: What is a crossroads you are at right now? And what about that is important?
This question applies to everyone—no matter your role, background, or setting. It invites self-reflection, meaningful dialogue, and fresh perspectives.
Step-by-Step Directions
✅ Step 1 (Optional):
Play the 1-Minute Workshop video above for your group, and I’ll do all the work for you.
✅ Step 2:
Invite the group to discuss this question in groups of three for about 7-15 minutes.
“What is a crossroads you are at? And what about that is important?”
Remind folks that a “crossroads” can be a major life choice or transition—or it could be the decision of what to eat for lunch. The choice is up to each individual to share a personal or professional crossroads that would be useful to unpack with good people that have your best interest in mind.
✅ Step 3:
Come back together and ask the group to popcorn out responses to this question:
“What struck you about those conversations?”
This simple process allows people to talk their way into tomorrow.
Why This Works
This isn’t just another icebreaker for meetings—it’s a powerful tool to create connection before content. It fosters trust, engagement, and meaningful dialogue, whether you’re in a corporate setting, a team-building workshop, or even a classroom.
